Why does Passtab WWCC Live Check log alerts (such as failed attempts and incorrect details)

Knowing what errors a person made as they attempted to provide a valid WWCC is important for cases of fraudulent behaviour. Meaning a person using a card that is not their own. Seeing the errors that brought them to a particular submission helps you piece together what they were attempting to do and helps you pin point the problem person.

For example:

  • Sarah and Jess arrive at the school for child related work
  • Sarah has a valid WWCC, Jess has an invalid WWCC
  • Sarah signs in, providing her WWCC in the process. It’s valid. Her sign in is successful.
  • Jess signs in, providing her WWCC in the process. It’s not valid and she cannot complete her sign in.
  • So Sarah gives Jess her card details, but not just the card number is required, the last name must also match
  • After a number of unsuccessful attempts, Jess finally works out she must put Sarah’s last name in and the card number. She gets a valid response so she can sign in
  • Passtab emails the school with these unsuccessful attempts, as they are happening. Passtab also records these in the Alerts dashboard.
  • The school can see the steps Sarah and Jess took during Jess’ sign in to fraudulently provide Sarah’s WWCC for Jess’ sign in
  • The school can follow up with necessary action
