This document provides solutions to common label printer issues.
Before you start
Please ensure you’ve had confirmation from your Passtab representative that printing is activated on the iPad station you’re attempting to print labels from.
If not, please contact us with the following information:
- The name of the iPad station (found under your logo on the sign in/out home page of that station ie: “Front Desk”)
- What type of person using this iPad you are expecting to have a label printed (ie: visitors only, not staff)
- Which movement should produce a label (ie: sign in or sign out. This is generally “sign in” however in the case of students leaving may mean you require printing to occur for “sign out”)
- Request a check for label printing activated on this station
Once you’ve confirmed printing is activated on the iPad station in question, please work through the troubleshooting options below:
Are you using the correct “type” when signing in and expecting a visitor badge
Consider if you’re using a sign in type or Quickpin type that is related to producing a visitor badge. For example, you might be testing if the printer is working by using your own Quickpin. This may be a “staff” Quickpin, which is not designed to produce a visitor badge on sign in. Ensure you are signing in under a “type” that you would expect to result in a visitor badge, such as a visitor or contractor.
Wrong roll type
Install an address label
This error will display if you click OK unnecessarily.
For example, if you just replaced the roll, closed the lid and clicked OK.
The OK button does not need to be clicked.
Click the back button to return the screen displaying P01

The printer must be on the P01 screen to be ready to print.

Error on iPad: Wrong Paper Roll
The iPad is displaying Wrong Paper Roll message
The paper type chosen under Select Paper Type is not matching the type of roll loaded into the printer.
If you are using:
- Passtab White or Yellow Label Roll, it should be selected on 62mm.
- Passtab paper roll (to print non-sticky dockets or passes) it should be selected 54mm
- Non-Passtab branded roll, it may be an “RB” type. You can try choosing “62mmRB”.
If that does not work, please contact us to order Passtab compatible rolls.
